On April 10, 2026, ECAIR marked the close of the first cohort of its Education AI Research Internship with a Discovery Showcase at SEAMEO INNOTECH. The program is part of ECAIR's mission to build the next generation of AI and data professionals for public service.
A Growing Pipeline of Talent
The internship gives emerging data talent hands-on experience contributing to real education projects. At the showcase, the four interns of the pioneering batch — Annika, Lanz, Josh, and Hashanti — presented what they had learned, reflecting on the value of using data science for social impact and on seeing, behind every data point, a real student, teacher, or school.
Remarks from the Managing Director
ECAIR Managing Director and Chief AI and Data Officer Dr. Erika Fille Legara congratulated the mentors for successfully running the program, thanking them for the time and care they gave to training the young interns and noting that a program like this is not easy to run. She congratulated the four interns and, as the pioneering batch, credited their feedback as the foundation for scaling the internship in the future.
With the first cohort complete, ECAIR is already planning its next, extending an opportunity for young Filipinos to bring AI skills into the service of education.
